Meet the Team
We – Star and Daezerae – met through Winnipeg’s networking and community spaces, both of us seeing the same gap: BIPOC creatives had incredible talent, drive, and vision, but not enough spaces designed with us in mind.
Instead of waiting for someone else to build it, we decided to create the kind of space we wished existed. What started as coffee chats and late-night brainstorms quickly grew into directories, coworking cafés, and events that put BIPOC creatives at the center.
Along the way, we had the opportunity to work with the Social Entrepreneur Enclave (SEE) and the GLOCAL Foundation of Canada – partnerships that helped us grow our vision, build our team, and expand what The Value Able could be.
Today, The Value Able is that space – a collective where our voices are celebrated, our stories are honoured, and our communities are connected through opportunity and collaboration.

With a background in community building and cultural work, she brings vision and structure – helping turn ideas into sustainable systems that uplift everyone involved.
Star believes deeply in the power of collaboration, storytelling, and reclaiming space for BIPOC voices. Through The Value Able, she is building pathways for creatives to not just showcase their work, but to grow, connect, and leave a legacy.

Meet Daezerae
Daezerae Gil (she/her) is a Winnipeg – based photographer, storyteller, and community builder. Through her business, Daezerae Gil Photography, she’s worked with families, entrepreneurs, and brands to create images that feel bold, heartfelt, and unforgettable.
Beyond the camera, Dezi is driven by connection – building spaces where people feel seen, celebrated, and confident. With The Value Able, she’s bringing that same heart and fire into creating a community for BIPOC creatives.
